A few days ago LC woke up singing. Her song of choice? "Sometimes I feel like a motherless child."
How's that for a good morning mom? I was instantly hurt... am I that bad as a parent? She feels motherless? Yikes.
It turned out that she heard the song at her school's Black History Program, but the rendition still stung me a bit. Why must they select such depressing and hopeless songs to pay tribute to our heritage? At least give us a song with hope at the end for a better something.
