withdrawal

My little one makes the most profound statements...
Today, while riding home from Momndad's,  she sat in the back seat chanting:
"God is great, God is good, let us thank him for our food, bow our heads let's all be fed thank you Lord for daily bread, Amen."

And of course I had to ask if she still prayed over her food at school before she ate.  She responded in clipped exasperation: "No, they do it wrong."  Then I hear the 3 minute speech ending in "Bon Appetite, Now let's eat" (and in the middle somewhere is "open and shut, open and shut...").

She says "It's a new school;" She misses "Miss Yvonne" and wants her not to "disappear" so she can return to the "right way" of preparing to eat.

So I told her she could still pray... she, however, said she'd just do the "wrong way" with the rest of the kids.  How easily we remove God from our lives for the sake of conformity.

Kids curse in frustration too... so since I've eliminated the real obscenities, Chi substitutes with SpongeBob-isms like "barnicle-heads" and "oh nematoads."
