Father's Day & Scavenger Hunt

Emotion

crying

I've no idea what spurred on the tears, and though the photo was only taken last weekend, Chi has forgotten what she was upset about as well.  She's such a bright and bubbly child that tears are a rarity.  There is optimism in her every breathe.  So this image, however poignant, was a fleeting moment of sadness - - her rain before the rainbow, I suppose.
"When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change. 'Cause you're amazing just the way you are. And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for awhile. 'Cause girl youre amazing just the way you are..." Bruno Mars ("Just the Way You Are")
From a Flowers Point of View
This was difficult...  I was thinking a planted flower, so its "view" would be looking up at the world.

Or maybe it would look to its side and see other flowers?

neighboring flower

Would it search the field for working bees, thinking "Pick me next!"?

Sunset
The sunset after a heavy rainfall seems especially vivid.  Against the darkness of the trees, it's magical.

PopPop & Ya

To my father:
We've had our moments of misunderstanding.  I've wondered sometimes if we were ever going to agree.  And each time I've thought you'd never know me, you've surprised me with an impromptu e-mail that said something I needed to read/hear/know at just that moment.  I think we've grown a lot as people - you and I.  We're not the same two from back in '79.  I cherish the special relationship we've worked so hard to develop and I'm so very glad I no longer 'resolve' to improve a relationship with my Dad.  I've got one. I love it.  I love you.

And if ever there were a point when I forgot just how much you love me, I merely have to look back to yesterday - any yesterday.  When you got up before sunrise to put on your camo and polish your boots, to race off to the office or the field or wherever duty sent you; when you threw on the bright orange prison jumper (where'd you get that thing?) to cut the grass in those diagonals someone said makes the grass grow better; when you peeked in my room to check on me, turned off my light and TV; when you prayed for me in church, at your desk at work, in your car, on your way to wherever; when you rescued me from California, packed up my little apartment, and drove the flaming Uhaul across country; when you sat bedside vigil over my hospital bed and transcribed every fragment of doctor-speak about my prognosis, their confusion, their musings; when you've brought smiles to my children's faces just by coming through the door, you've hugged them, kissed them, combed toy stores for elusive "PopPop can I haves;" when you understood things I couldn't accept and waited for me to grow enough as a person in my own time; when you have bailed me out of financial danger, cut checks to the bursar; when you forwarded that job post "just in case" and offered another perspective on things... and there's no doubt I've missed something.
