This week's themes were amazing. About two weeks ago, I was a photographing fool and my focus was on abstracts and inanimates. So, this week's hunt was really one of rediscovering the possibilities of seeing the world around me.
Camera Phone
All of these images were taken with my Droid Incredible using the free version of Retro Camera app by Urbian (the biege frames are cropped out). I loved the dark shadows and tones created with the "Barbl" style. Initially, I was a little nervous about yanking out Canon while wandering the alleys of unfamiliar DC neighborhoods alone. Fear subsided quickly.Camera
This particular prompt proved difficult... I took a camera shot just a few weeks ago. It was of Poppy's camera... all the other camera images I have are just... blehck. So, Chi volunteered to fill the space for me...
ShoesI had taken quite a few shots while on a Mommy-on-her-own day in Occoquan. It was still raining... but the misty drops were tolerable. I ventured to the Old Mill House, where a kindly man with an incredible life story chatted at me as I photographed the exhibits in the small room. The shoe, of course part of a pair, was typical of Occoquan in its prime. The owner used to have a buttoner to help her close up the delicate boots. Her lacy victorian dress, worn ragged with time and the elements, hung on a dress form not far away.
Chair
The museum's caretaker didn't have a special story for this chair... in fact, I really think it's just a place for him to sit when he doesn't have any visitors... but I loved the aged appeal of the wood against the old brick fireplace. I pictured a little girl playing with her dolls, her feet crossed at the ankles, a focused look on her face as she immersed herself in play. Not even three feet from her chair was a little cradle... waiting patiently for its owner to set a baby inside.

Oh my goodness! These are AMAZING. I wonder if I can get that app for my droid phone because these shots are simply amazing. love them.
Each and every shot....really. can't even choose a favorite!
These are great!
BTW...you mentioned that you are interested in the photo painting process. I would be happy to share how I transfer an image to canvas....it is a "mixed-media" process....and terribly fun!
Love your imperfection shot!
These are awesome - I love your droid shots (my husband has one and loves it). I also love your imperfection shot.
Shoes, chair and imperfection are... PERFECT! ;)

These are all great shots! I really love each and every one. Occoquan is such a funky little town - I really wish I had spent more time there while living in Fredericksburg. Oh well, all the more reason to go back for a visit! Thanks for stopping by my blog - it always means so much to me!
